Job Description – FFMA Chief Executive Officer

 

Introduction – The Funeral Furnishing Manufacturer’s Association represents the vast majority of coffin and casket manufacturers and re-sellers with the UK. The Association is the link between suppliers of services and goods to the funeral industry. Our aim is to ensure traditional high standards are maintained and where possible raise the standards of products and services.

We have developed the most comprehensive coffin, casket and shroud certification scheme in conjunction with the Crematoria Associations to ensure our members can prove their certified coffins are fit for purpose and bare the mark of FFMA quality.

We seek to employ a part time Chief Executive to take over the responsibilities of all aspects of the day to day running of the association. The Person will be based at home but will be required to travel. The Chief Executive will report into the executive board members and will be responsible for the following areas of administration and business activities:

Responsibilities:

Finance - Administration of membership and coffin certification invoices and keeping of the associations ledger. Grow the income of the association.

Communication with members and kindred Associations – Keeping our members up to date with regular communications via newsletters, progress with specific projects/schemes administered by the association. Organising the associations general (GM) and Annual General meetings (AGM). To attend where required meetings with kindred associations.

Coffin and Casket Certification scheme: To administer the scheme, promote and market the scheme to gain more members testing their coffins, assist members with their certification queries or certification concerns.

Membership Recruitment – Visit new members and progress new membership as and when required. Look for new membership possibilities by regular networking and industry events.

Marketing – To undertake marketing to our members and the wider funeral profession industry with the purpose of raising the profile of the association and any schemes under our direct control.

Debating/lobbying – To become an active part of industry and government working party debates on the funeral profession to ensure the voice of suppliers of goods and services to the funeral profession is heard.

Networking – To network alongside the President and executive board members at industry events and become a prominent figure head within the funeral profession industry.

Key Attributes:

  • A person of vison who can help develop the association into a more influential association for the benefit of its members.
  • The ability to manage and control the finances of the association.
  • Experience in working in the private or public sector and understands how large organisations/associations are run.
  • An organised, hardworking and professional person.
  • A good communicator and listener.
  • The ability to deliver a presentation to a small to medium sized audience.
  • Have some experience in lobbying government departments and or kindred associations.
  • Full, preferably clean driving license.

Hours of Work and Rate of Pay

  • To work 3 days a week (21 hours)
  • Salary of £20,000 per annum
  • Travel expenses £0.30 per mile
  • Mobile phone expenses up to £50 per month
